Kiwi Campout
Mendocino Coast – 2024
Our annual Coastal Kiwi Campout offers a relaxed, refreshingly wild Pacific Ocean experience in the beautiful Mendocino area - you can pitch your tent and then pitch in! During the days, there are loads of outdoor options, from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, a walk down to the private beach, or simply relax by the campsite. Bring your own kayak and fishing gear, or rent them for the day from a local outdoor store.
The Northern California coast is stunningly beautiful, but it can get cold and foggy at night, so be sure to bring an extra blanket or two and a warm jacket.
Arrival starts at noon on Saturday; after everyone’s set up we’ll gather for an afternoon of Meet & Greet wine & cheese tasting, followed by a BBQ featuring a NZ Lamb extravaganza - graciously donated by our friends at Atkins Ranch. Saturday evening features an outdoor performance from an awesome band or musician, hand-picked by our Mendocino hosts Gower and Robyn Smith.
On Sunday morning we’ll provide bacon, eggs, bagels, smoked salmon to get your day started, then feel free to explore Mendocino, from the hiking trails to the beach, to shopping in town. We’ll gather again in the evening for a Sunday night dinner with treats from Burtonz Bakery, and more of a “simple “ kiwi dinner. Monday - after a hearty breakfast and clean up, we can casually pack and head out, leaving everything as we found it.
In true Kiwi style we'll all be chipping in around the camp – all campers will be asked to help with some specific tasks by the person heading up each night’s meal. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share – NZ classics are encouraged!
There will be a per Camper cost of $75.00 per person to cover the camp basics such as porta potties and wash stations, and of course the yummy food options mentioned above.

Lastly, please try to be "green aware" and reduce plastic waste, by bringing any reusable items like plates, cups, cutlery - and leave any unnecessary packaging at home. We are a bunch of eco-friendly Kiwis, so we'll pack all the trash out with us, and protect the beautiful Mendocino coast.
Tickets for this 21-and-over event will be offered first to SF Kiwis paid members, so be sure to sign up or renew as space is limited to 40 campers and we expect to sell out.

Disclaimer
Guests are expected to bring their own drinking water/additional drinks/food, their favorite camping set up, and to help pitch in with side-dishes/desserts to go with the main course in the evenings.
In the spirit of leave-no-trace camping, guests will be expected to help take all of the trash out from the beautiful property. We'll do a racoon proofing every night and various other fun camping things.
Guests will be asked to sign a liability waiver at the site, given the risks associated with camping on a working farm, and there being exposed cliffs. As part of the ticket purchase process, guests will be indicating that they realize the risks involved in camping close to a wild west coast beach at the water’s edge near the tall and beautiful cliffs.
