The New Zealand American Association of San Francisco (NZAASF)

Kia ora and welcome to SF Kiwis!

NZAASF provides a social and networking forum for Kiwis and their American friends in the Bay Area.
At the same time, we work to promote NZ - the people, the culture, the food and wine,
the sport, the place (and the hobbits!)

Our mission is to promote and foster good relations between New Zealand and the US through a
variety of social and cultural events held in the Bay Area.
We are all ambassadors!

Wicked Kiwi Campout

Our Kiwi Campout will take you to a relaxed but refreshingly wild Pacific Ocean experience, in the beautiful Mendocino area - and yes - you can pitch your tent and then pitch in!

SAVE THE DATE: September 4-6 (Labor Day weekend)

On Saturday, we will share an afternoon of Wine & Cheese tasting, a dinner of NZ Lamb graciously donated by our friends at Atkins Ranch, and a scrummy NZ dessert selection purchased from a Kiwi - Shef Genni, who owns Fleet Street Pies.

To round it out, there will be NZ pies direct from Pie Press, for Sunday dinner. In true Kiwi style we'll all be chipping in and contributing salads and nibbles, but more about that later.

GREAT ANNOUNCEMENT: Entertainment from a local band is being very kindly donated by long standing SF Kiwis member Gower Smith on one of the evenings, and we are open to fun suggestions for other activities. You may want to explore further up the Coast during the daytime, or walk down to the attached beach. As it's a Kiwi affair, we will all be 'pitching in' to leave no footprint, of course.

There will be a per Camper cost to cover the practicalities such as Porta Potties and Wash station rentals, and of course, the yummy food options mentioned above.

Tickets for this 21-and-over event will first be made available to SFKiwis paid members only, so be sure to either sign up as a paid member(or renew if needed), as they will likely sell out fast, now that we can escape COVID restrictions and return to the great outdoors. Given the limited paddock size, and the need to ensure that the steer and alpacas on the property still have plenty of roaming territory, the event will be capped at 40 people.

Ticket price covers costs such as porta potties, several glasses of NZ wine for the wine tasting event, NZ desserts, NZ pies, and Sunday breakfast (bacon, avocado and croissants).

Guests are expected to bring their own drinking water/additional drinks/food, their favorite car camping set up, and to help pitch in with side-dishes to go with the Kiwi lamb and pies in the evenings.

In the spirit of leave-no-trace camping, guests will be expected to help pack some of the trash out from the beautiful property.

Guests will need to sign a liability waiver given the risks associated with camping on a working farm, and there being exposed cliffs.

Latest Safetravel notice:

The New Zealand Government and Air New Zealand have agreed to manage flights into New Zealand in the short term to ensure the Government is able to safely put New Zealanders arriving home into a managed isolation or quarantine facility.

We understand Air New Zealand had put a temporary hold on new bookings in the short term and will look at align daily arrivals with capacity available at managed isolation facilities.

We understand New Zealanders who have already booked flights with Air New Zealand will still be able to enter New Zealand subject to availability of quarantine space.

Please contact Air New Zealand regarding the status of your specific booking(s).

For further advice for New Zealanders overseas, please see our information on SafeTravel.

The Government is committed to helping New Zealanders overseas where we can. This is an increasingly difficult situation and we understand the uncertainty many travellers are facing. We know that for many New Zealanders, you may be facing difficult choices about staying where you are or looking at options for returning home. We also recognise that not all New Zealanders who want to return home are able to do so. New Zealanders who cannot return home for the time being should continue to take steps to stay safely where they are. Our main concern is that you are safe, whatever decision you make.
