The New Zealand American Association of San Francisco (NZAASF)

Kia ora and welcome to SF Kiwis!

NZAASF provides a social and networking forum for Kiwis and their American friends in the Bay Area.
At the same time, we work to promote NZ - the people, the culture, the food and wine,
the sport, the place (and the hobbits!)

Our mission is to promote and foster good relations between New Zealand and the US through a
variety of social and cultural events held in the Bay Area.
We are all ambassadors!

Annual general Meeting 2020

Kia Ora to you all. We hope that your family and friends are well and that you have all your Kiwi style survival skills at the ready or in use!

As a non-profit organization, we are required to have an Annual General Meeting, which we normally do at our summer picnic, but with COVID-19 causing that event to be cancelled, we've decided to do it another way.

It's time for us to connect virtually, so here we go!

Saturday October 17 at noon PDT.  Please go to the event page

to register, and if you are either a paid up member or have signed up for a newsletter, this is a piece of cake. You are welcome to sign up now, and join us.  Of course only currently paid-up member will be able to vote but the meeting is open to discussion for you all.

Once registered, you will receive an email with the meeting link

This is a great opportunity to also meet our new Consul General for NZ in LA, Jeremy Clarke-Watson. He has lived and worked in many parts of the world including UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Viet Nam, Australia and London to name a few. He is very much looking forward to coming up to the Bay Area and physically meeitng you all, but in the meantime, here's your opportinity for an in-person meeting via screen!

You may know us already, and realize that SFKiwis is your go-to social organziation for a great Kiwi-fix, and we'll be holding our Annual General Meeting via ZOOM this year - and of course you are warmly invited. We are a happy bunch of Kiwis (with friends and family here), currently living in the US, who enjoy embracing the best part of NZ while enjoying what life brings us here.

Of course if you have any interest in joining to discuss specific functions, or to be on our Board, please put your name forward!  We greatly appreciate new blood, new ideas and enthusiasm.  Now might be a good time to enhance our community activities by organizing some simple Zoom NZ Nights, or other on-line activities. Put on your thinking cap and share your brilliance with us.

Before you go - a quick reminder -  voting is now open in NZ and you still have time -- if you want some pointers, please visit

Latest Safetravel notice:

The New Zealand Government and Air New Zealand have agreed to manage flights into New Zealand in the short term to ensure the Government is able to safely put New Zealanders arriving home into a managed isolation or quarantine facility.

We understand Air New Zealand had put a temporary hold on new bookings in the short term and will look at align daily arrivals with capacity available at managed isolation facilities.

We understand New Zealanders who have already booked flights with Air New Zealand will still be able to enter New Zealand subject to availability of quarantine space.

Please contact Air New Zealand regarding the status of your specific booking(s).

For further advice for New Zealanders overseas, please see our information on SafeTravel.

The Government is committed to helping New Zealanders overseas where we can. This is an increasingly difficult situation and we understand the uncertainty many travellers are facing. We know that for many New Zealanders, you may be facing difficult choices about staying where you are or looking at options for returning home. We also recognise that not all New Zealanders who want to return home are able to do so. New Zealanders who cannot return home for the time being should continue to take steps to stay safely where they are. Our main concern is that you are safe, whatever decision you make.

If you require emergency consular assistance, please contact the New Zealand Embassy in Washington DC on +1 202 328 4800 or the New Zealand Consulate-General in Los Angeles on +1 310 566 6555
